What To Do & Where To Go
A five minute walk from Crannog Lodge takes you to the ruins of Castle Moil. Seven miles up the island takes you to the foot of the famous Cuillin mountain range where you can start your Munro bagging.
Make a visit next door to the Bright Water Centre, then visit Eilean Ban, the island home of Gavin Maxwell, where he wrote ‘Ring of Bright Water’. Here, you can also view otters, seals and various sea birds from the hides on the island.
Take a trip down the former Drover’s Cattle Pass on the historic turntable car ferry that sails between the Kylerhea Narrows.
Or a boat trip in the glass bottomed boat to view the spectacular underwater flora and fauna in the newly appointed special area of marine conservation out of Kyle.
Go whale watching from the boat trips out of Armadale and Broadford or perhaps follow in the footsteps of Bonnie Prince Charlie, then visit the grave of Flora Macdonald.
Ten miles back across the bridge on the A87, takes you to Eilean Donan Castle where ‘The Highlander’ was filmed. Six miles back over the bridge takes you into the scenic village of Plockton where Hamish MacBeth was filmed.
Or simply sit in Crannog Lodge lounge looking out of the panoramic windows watching the local fisherman unload their daily catch or watch the cargo ships and yachts navigate under the Skye Bridge.
